Play 90 second soundbite of 'Paper Beats Stone' @ 'CD quality'
Loaded with catchy melodies and infectious choruses the five tracks here absolutely typify Rosemary's rather unique stylee; a wonderful blend of all things contemporary with tasty, multi-genre flavours delicately but liberally layered in and through the songs.
From somewhere inside their deeply rooted indie/rock structure come well disguised elements of folk, skiffle (rockabilly if you will) and blatant rock 'n' roll - a wondrous concoction of all things musically beautiful from the last forty years. This aint your simple 'retro' thing; it's 'post-retro' that sets out, and succeeds, to tie together loose ends of musical cultures and elements of past and present genres. And, once again, Rosemary pull it off majestically.
This trio of enthusiastic guys manage somehow to thrill the listener with a barrage of danceable tunes as they rhythmically blast holes through space to spread their contagious wares with all the finesse and culture that Hill, Brett and Chamberlain can muster. 'The Grey EP', with '40-40', 'She's Chic, Unique', Allegiance To My Queen', 'Paper Beats Stone' and 'I Use Music' continues Rosemary's relentless drive towards greater acceptance and wider appeal; it's a superb piece of work that shows just what a great outfit Rosemary are.
