Play 90 second soundbite of 'Addicted To Drama' @ 'CD quality'
'Addicted To Drama' showcases four tracks from the rather unique and more than a wee bit likeable Rob Marr; the title track plus 'Safety Pins', 'Better' and 'Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage' - a wonderful introduction to this extremely talented artist and a real blast to listen to. Marr's distinct style just gets more compelling with additional plays - he gets inside yer head, he's annoyingly unputdownable! Marr has a wonderful knack of making complex songs sound simple - here he layers the instrumentation so effectively that at first it all sounds quite sparsely instrumentally populated - as you listen you realise that there's actually quite a lot going on but it's never crowded in any way whatsoever - clever stuff from Marr!! Marr's lyrics are poetically clinical yet, when set to music, they come alive, and almost personal. Marr is a genius with words, that's quite clear. But, his ability to colour his words with musical sound is exemplary; beautifully proportioned, wonderfully enhancing and then there's still the quirky thing - result, a rich and enchanting, fresh new sound to enliven an all-too-often dreary and usually banal old pop music scene!
'Addicted To Drama' by Rob Marr is an exquisite EP; full of charming Britishness, loaded with commercial viability, overflowing with pure natural musical talent - a great introduction to a guy that's clearly on a mission. The music scene would be a poorer place without the likes of Rob Marr around to bring good cheer as well as exceptional talent to the 'party'. I love what Rob Marr is doing, I love his unmistakable style and I really, really love 'Addicted To Drama'. Surely Rob Marr aint gonna be allowed to languish at the lower levels of pop stardom - one for the higher echelons of things musical methinks - great stuff, addictive and very very rewarding - excellent!!
