Play 90 second soundbite of 'Rockstar' @ 'CD quality'
'Rockstar' is undeniably in-yer-face catchy pop-rock and it compares extremely well with anything else currently doing the rounds. The Reemer sound is once again big, solid and vibrant and 'Rockstar' quickly becomes a whistlealongto song and then, as the words unfold, you'll find yourself singing along - big, loud and hopefully proud. 'Rockstar' has been given a great production; everything is beautifully proportioned and mixed with massive attention to detail such that nothing gets lost or swamped. 'Rockstar' has a beautifully 'rich' and warm feel to it, it positively jumps out at you, it's memorable and pretty damn instant. 'B' side, 'Words' finds the Reemer boys in more reflective mood; it's a real anthemic sounding, broody piece that features some really moody guitar riffs and a kick-ass punchy chorus. Ballsy yet balladic, 'Words' is beefy and brave and shows that Reemer are more than just a one-trick-pop-pony.
'Rockstar' by Reemer is a big and robust pop rocker and finds the lads in great form and sounding ready to take on the more established outfits. Gritty vocals dance with some rippin' guitar riffs and both are driven on by some monstrous percussion and crunchin', throbbin' bass. For a 'pop' song, 'Rockstar' is wonderfully well balanced and shows creativity and maturity. On its own 'Rockstar' would be an impressive release but, when coupled with the impressively elegant 'Words', Reemer show that they are a band that means big business - they've got the tools there and show they know how to use 'em - lady luck now needs to take a little sleep-over in the Reemer household and who knows what might happen!
'Rockstar' and 'b' side 'Words' by Reemer is an inspired coming together of two commercial songs sitting at opposite ends of the pop spectrum - superbly crafted, and a genuine 'contender'.
