Play 90 second soundbite of 'Stanley's Wake' @ 'CD quality'
Not Surprisingly, 'Fortune Never Sleeps' is a magnificently sumptuous piece of work; it has a somehow calming nature although it also carries a vibrancy that only comes with total understanding of the genre and its nuances. Classy through and through, it takes the whole genre to another level. There have been many similarly targeted bands before, many involved Hutchings but this is 'now', this is electric folk for the 21st century. Hutchings has brought in new, young blood to act as a catalyst to his musical maturity - and it works, my does it work!! 'Fortune Never Sleeps' is absolutely beautiful; evocative story telling set to charmingly restful but conversely uplifting music that mixes old with new and sets new standards.
Faultless and totally absorbing, 'Fortune Never Sleeps' makes a more than just pleasant change in today's manic music world. It feels like a reality check - a coming back to earth - a genuine and wholesome piece of musical brilliance at a time that seems just right. Given the right promotion, 'Fortune Never Sleeps' should get massive sales; there's still a big marketplace for this kind of thing. That marketplace has suffered of late through a lack of top class artists and from being forced into the backroom of musical acceptance. At last, we have something inspirational, something that gushes quality to help this genre back to the fore.
Rainbow Chasers' have managed to bring their beloved folk music into the modern world; this aint yer finger in the ear kinda folk (even though the roots are set firmly in 'traditional' folk ), this is exciting and contemporary, breathtakingly exquisite and simply magnificent. 'Fortune Never Sleeps' puts new life into an 'old' musical form and is stunning in every respect.
