With a sound and style all of her own, Quitzow glides sublimely through this twelve song set of quirky, whimsical even, pop songs. Think Lori Anderson, think Altered Images, think Kate Bush, think Bjork - mix those influences together and you start to come somewhere close to what Quitzow is dishing out. For me, Quitzow gets top marks here just for being so different and so bloody entertaining. Quitzow just about manages to stay on the acceptably zany side of pop commercialism; this aint yer normal pop music though - oh no, Quitzow makes you take a step back and make considered choices - shall I allow myself a listen or shall I switch off and ignore? Do I give this a chance or do I turn my nose up coz it's probably just another piece of pop trite? Firstly, you should at least give this a try and secondly, this aint 'pop trite' my friends, this is a beautifully proportioned, well written and superbly performed collection of alt-pop works.
Well, as you've probably guessed by now, for me, this is a must try work - a thing of modern beauty - a piece of modern pop culture being styled and displayed right before your very eyes (and ears)! 'Art College' is wonderfully glib but also superbly serious - I just love what Quitzow is dishing out here - this is clever, this is innovative, this is simply great! What Quitzow manages to do with her array of modern 'instruments' and a few like-minded friends is quite breathtaking; Quitzow composes beautifully and performs masterfully with commitment and focus - everything here is done to an absolute turn. 'Art College' is a real pleasure zone of superbly crafted, art-house experimentalism absolutely rammed with intoxicating sounds and overflowing with singalongable pop sensibility.
'Art College' by Quitzow is a real Pandora's Box of modern musical sounds - Quitzow toys with your mind until you're never sure of what's coming next or where you're being taken. An absolute pleasure to behold, 'Art College' by Quitzow is pure contemporary pop of the highest order. Quitzow turns pop as we know it on its head and sets new standards for today and the future. 'Art College' is pop escapism - you don't have to take it too seriously though even though this is seriously good! Dreamy stuff this from pop revolutionary Quitzow - just enjoy it for what it is - beautifully simplistic but cleverly diverse!!
