And, tonight Matthew, Puffin (or to give them their official name, Puffin Sux Ass) are going to be....exciting, vibrant and a breath of fresh air!! Right from the moment the band struck up my eyes were drawn to the trombone player. Not only did he punctuate the vocal lines in true ska style but he was also a positive bundle of energy; hyperactive just doesn't describe young Jeff (bone & keys). Pass (vox & git) put across their wonderful lyrics in way that only Pass can do; animated, raunchy, solid. With their animated style, between Jeff and Pass they probably covered the equivalent of about two miles on that stage tonight!! Solid support came from Lewie (bass) and Bobby-K (beatz!) as they layed down the foundation for it all to happen.
Playing tracks such as 'Rock The Fox' (evidently about Jeff's car), 'Jack Maniac' and 'The Song You're About To Hear' (so called because they haven't come up with a title yet!), Puffin woke the audience up big style. A great version of Clapton's 'Wonderful Tonight' received a thunderous reception as did the band when their fine set was over.
Well worth seeing - I shall be looking out for their gigs in the future!!
