Play 90 second soundbite of 'Murder In My Mind' @ 'CD quality'
Plague are scary. They typify the genre. But, they also slide in some really decent riffs and licks and a few other asides too. I found some of the material a little disjointed, staccato at times but in a way that works coz I could never quite work out what was coming next - Plague just keep on comin' at you with their powerhouse performances. It's difficult to find fault really - these angry sounding guys do their thing damn well. There's the stereotypical frantic percussion work, the big riffs, the angry vocals, the passion for their chosen craft. It all comes together bloody well to result in a shit hot seven tracks of head-bangin', gut-wrenchin', brain-damaging frenetic metal mayhem that's up their with many of the 'big boys'.
Actually, Plague are a lot easier to partake of and digest than some of their contemporaries; I think it's down to some of the more unusual passages that flit in and out of the songs - odd seconds of tasty respite that seem to turn up just at the right time - big, anthem-like passages that make you step back and listen with a 'different ear'. 'Bring Out Your Dead' is certainly a monster release. It's not actually my thing, but it works, it does all the right things and even has a few surprises locked inside.
