Winnberg's music has an almost experimental edge to it - this aint pure pop but similarly it aint pure anything else either. This is a work that's completely 'off the wall' in a commercial sense. Extremely hard to pigeonhole, Winnberg's way is a sort of 'smart-pop' - beautifully pure in a musical sense, incredibly precise, understated yet fulfilling, simplistic yet persuasive. 'Easily Tricked' is actually a commercial breath of fresh air, a piece of parallel-pop, a bit of a pop gamble I suppose. Sure, this is commercial in the sense that what Petter & The Pix do is radio-friendly, instantly recognisable and inoffensive. But, 'Easily Tricked' could just as easily be described as cultish or alternative - the listener is, as the title suggests, 'easily tricked'!
'Easily Tricked by Petter & The Pix is a sumptuous piece of modern music - musically it has all the emotion and innovation of a subdued Antony & The Johnsons, lyrically it has the stylish maturity and descriptive qualities of Sting and yet Winnberg's style is still hard to pinpoint. One thing is for sure though, 'Easily Tricked' by Petter & The Pix is undeniably fascinating and unputdownable. Superbly assembled from conception to final packaging, 'Easily Tricked' is a pretty damn hot piece of work that has the potential to shake things up a bit and deserves success. This is a fresh and rewarding piece of alt-pop music - inoffensive yet intoxicating, familiarly familiar yet innovative, seemingly simple yet undeniably classy. 'Easily Tricked by Petter & The Pix is a pleasure to behold - a diamond in the rough!
