Play 90 second soundbite of 'Is That really You?' @ 'CD quality'
PJR keeps it all pretty simple and to the point here; clear and well enunciated vocals allow the listener to get to the point of his songs; quirky, 'urban folk' songs often tinged with a degree of sadness but quiet optimism - Worcester's answer to Jackie Leven - a sort of town & country poetry set to effectively simplistic but workmanlike acoustic guitar.
Rose's songs, although often quite personal, look at life and life's oddities and contain more than an element of wholesome reality that most will be able to associate with. 'A Nice Cup Of Tea' has been brewed slowly but with appreciative respect for the infusive formula and now sits at just the right temperature to quench many a musical thirst and whet the appetite for more from the same pot.
About three years prior to this release the then somewhat shy Paul J Rose stood back from the musical stage and concentrated on honing his skills as a singer/songwriter. Then, after hundreds of hours in the urban wilderness spent busking to amazed passers-by, he found the inner strength to once again take to the stage - quite right too!! Now, Paul J Rose, with his new-found confidence and self-belief, steps forward from the subways and streets with this great release, 'A Nice Cup Of Tea', a taster, I'm sure, of even 'Rose-ier' things to come.
