Play 90 second soundbite of 'Drugeater' by Highroad No.28 @ 'CD quality'
Seemingly a man after my own heart, a lover of all things musically creative and a promoter of the less fortunate but not necessarily less deserving out there, Chris Parke has cast his net over the independent music world and come up with quite a catch. Although covering a multitude of styles and sounds, 'Parx-e - ...' is a breath of fresh air and quite a thing to behold. Parke has done a fantastic job here - the effort must have been great and it'd be good to think that the results of his endeavours could be similarly rewarding for the acts he has chosen here.
It's when something like this comes to light that you really start to realise just what fantastic yet un-captured talent there is out in the world. There are twenty acts showcased here and twenty stunning songs that truly deserve recognition and success. And, this is just a drop in the ocean when it comes to relatively undiscovered talent - we just don't fully understand and probably under-estimate the 'loss' of viable artists and their material due to the way the music industry is run. Thankfully, with the internet age, download possibilities and people like Chris Parke, the music lovers of the world can rest assured that ways are being found all the time to bring this kinda music into your homes. 'Parx-e - ...' is a brilliant compilation that's proving to be pretty much unputdownable - with each listen I find new joys to behold, new moments that I'd missed on the previous plays, new influences, new creativity!
Chris Parke should be applauded for his commitment to 'the cause' - it seems like he's doing whatever is in his power to spread the good word, to cast the seeds of many very deserving acts. Certainly, 'Parx-e - A Compilation Of Independent Music' has come up with the goods - this is really great stuff and it wouldn't be right if I failed to name the acts contained within this excellent work. They are, The Long Winters (USA), Amanda Rogers (USA), The Brightwings (USA), Fourth Floor Collapse (AUS), Katie Brianna (AUS), Stapleton (SCO), The Wellingtons (AUS), The Dramas (USA), Pine (NZ), Jenny Dalton (USA), Julian Coryell (USA), Rebecca Loebe (USA), Agent (NZ), The Scissor File (AUS), Highroad No.28 (AUS), Shannon Curtis (USA), Joe Rohan, The Beautiful Burn (NZ), The Strain (AUS) and Jessica McPhearson (AUS).
Although varied and with a few exceptions, there is often a theme of calm and mellow running through this album - and when it's an 'exception' to the 'mellow' it's still majorly impressive and superbly entertaining. So, pretty chilled, beautifully harmonious, well proportioned and defo well worth a listen, well worth a few of yer quids or coins of your Nation!
Chris Parke's inspirational compilation album, 'Parx-e - A Compilation Of Independent Music' is a massively impressive piece of work - not just for the actual content but for its commitment and dedication, for the chance of twenty superb musical acts to raise their individual and collective heads above the parapet to be targeted, to be seen and to be heard. A beautiful and admirable work - superb!!
