Our Name Is Legion

Our Name Is Legion EP

Play 90 second soundbite of 'What You Want To Know' @ 'CD quality'

Kent four piece, Our Name Is Legion, do their thing with contagious, rock biased punkablity and this eponymously titled EP gives us just a small glimpse of this exciting sounding outfit. With genre challenging gusto they rip through musical boundaries and come out the other side with a diverse and adrenalin fuelled concoction of almost epic proportions.

Our Name Is Legion comprise Ritzo (lead vocals & guitar), Connor (vocals & guitar), Sam (vocals & bass) and Zarpak (drums) and these guys really mess with sound and style and in turn mess with yer head! Eclectic but with massive commercial possibilities, Our Name Is Legion are a positive powerhouse of contemporary pop-rock and the energy they put into their music comes across well in their recorded works. With big, sing-along choruses and catchy melodies their songs get under ya skin, big style. Think experimental Blur comes up against infectious Ten Pole Tudor and then add in Clash aggression and it somewhere approaches Our Name Is Legion's sound. Clearly a bit different, certainly varied and definitely a bit special .

They kick off here with the punk laced 'What You Want To Know'. With a massively punchy and repetitive bass line that drills itself into you and superbly balanced rock guitar riffs and breaks it's a classy piece and a great opener. 'Winner Stays On' is probably a tad more pop than punk; again Our Name Is Legion throw out big hooks that go deep and stay hooked. 'Fact Or Fiction' steps back into nu-punk mode and just rocks. Using a beautifully discordant guitar riff that makes you stop, listen and take note. The EP closes with the excellent and again beautifully discordant '125'. Opening very much in post-rock stylee, it builds slowly and gracefully into another pacey and compelling piece of rocket driven nu-punk. Four quite individual tracks that combine to make this EP a great example of well considered musical deviation and solid pop sensibility.

Our Name Is Legion have strength in their writing and are well balanced instrumentally. They know how to craft songs to maintain interest, they play as one solid unit and they have great potential for success. I like their somewhat off-the-wall individuality and penchant for the unexpected. They lay down their maturely worked songs and pack them full of interest and loads of harnessed energy. Our Name Is Legion is a band to watch out for - definitely a band for now and probably a band for the future too!
