Play 90 second soundbite of 'Perfect Designs' @ 'CD quality'
I'm sure that comparisons will be made but with Ormondroyd's musical diversity and natural penchant for building epic sounding 'chunes' but any comparisons will only serve as pointers to their style and genre. 'Hit & Hope' is a beautifully crafted and majestically put together piece of atmospheric pop/rock. The use of gently wafting vocals set amidst intriguingly complex but refreshingly cool instrumentation is stunning; this album can be as deep as you want it to be but still makes an easy listening experience. One moment it's a relaxing, evocative head-trip, the next it's an energetic journey of awesome beauty of anthem-like post-rock. Ormondroyd toy with your senses through luxuriously nurtured soundscapes packed with massive rock sensibility, mature melodies and breathtaking originality.
Ormondroyd certainly know how to 'build' a song; listen carefully and you'll be gently drawn into their world of musical tapestries and poetic ramblings. Once in, relax and let yourself go - drift on the warm and beckoning undercurrents, ride the waves, float effortlessly along and Ormondroyd will carry you to somewhere better - an appealing place where you'll experience something totally uplifting and memorable and I bet you'll soon be re-visiting the Ormondroyd experience. And, when you re-visit you'll find new joys, subtle nuances and soft undulations that you didn't initially hear as you open yourself to the work in its entirety. 'Hit & Hope' is a classic piece of modern rock music that tears down genre barriers and opens up new possibilities.
This album is rammed full of stunning works of aural pleasure. With a real feeling of longevity about it, Ormondroyd's 'Hit & Hope' is just about as good as it gets. Amazing!!
