Play 90 second soundbite of 'Confidence' @ 'CD quality'
Original Cast have a few things to say and they mean you to listen. Lyrically these guys have it nailed. Musically there's a sort of freedom from genre thing going on although they could be likened to The Jam in their 'urban poetry' approach and gutsy delivery. This is a classy piece of work and deserves to be heard. Moreover, Original Cast sound like a band that know what they want and they have all the tools to reach their goals. If you go for bands like Hard-Fi, Razorlight, Prodigy and the like, then Original Cast will be right up your street. But don't go thinking for one moment that Original Cast are plagiarising others works - these dudes are the real deal, they're totally 'now', massively commercial and they should be bloody big!!!
Original Cast's music belies their relatively tender years; these guys look younger than they should be - surely mature writing like this only comes after years and years of hard gigging and from building a mutual understanding nurtured through individuals coming together to play as a family. If Original Cast don't have what it takes to make a huge impact then I don't know who has.
'Confidence' is rammed full of great songs which are performed with consummate professionalism and guts. A stunning piece of contemporary music that's commercially sound but retains a feeling of cultish aggression and genuine originality. Superb stuff!
