On-Screen Heroes

Demo

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Saturday Comedown' @ 'CD quality'

This demo was entered into the 2008 Toxic Pete / ffg Studios Studio Time Competition

On-Screen Heroes are a Birmingham three-piece alt/rock outfit. Their style is raw, energetic and pretty moshin'! On the rock side of indie but with great chunks of punk attitude and pop sensibilities, On-Screen Heroes make a very pleasant 'noise' and sound an exciting prospect.

Just three tracks here, not much but enough to get a good handle on On-Screen Heroes. For just a three-piece these guys are loud and brash - superb bass and drums that not only drive the machine but lay down a solid but fluid backdrop which allows the vibrant and very effective guitar work to punctuate and embellish things. With one lead vocalist but the other two assisting with backing vox, On-Screen Heroes whisk up some pretty gutsy vocalisation that's as mean as their music and feels totally suited being on the raw side of clean. On-Screen Heroes play with confidence and unity and their overall feel is gritty, workmanlike and well rockin'.

This demo is 'live', rough and ready and clearly showcases On-Screen Heroes' massively energetic leanings and ballsy attitude. On-Screen Heroes sound like one of those bands that'd be difficult to transfer onto disc, from within the sterile environment of the studio, for fear of loosing their spark and adrenalin fuelled savvy. The three songs given here, 'Saturday Comedown', '1am Blues' and 'I Don't Wanna Rule The World' are kick-ass choices that demonstrate quite beautifully the thrash'n'crash attack and all-encompassing potential of On-Screen Heroes. Played loud these become real brain-ache-rs and are very difficult to ignore.

On-Screen Heroes show fantastic promise here but, they don't actually do anything different, they don't seen to have an individual identity yet. On-Screen Heroes are great at what they do but I'd like to see a little bit of innovation in there - something that would instantly tell you that you were listening to On-Screen Heroes. Good work then but I think there's still a bit to come!
