Onan

Demo CD

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Falling Out' @ 'CD quality'

This new demo really does do justice to this West Midlands based outfit; three bloody good, original tracks of classic sounding rock 'epics'. 'Scared', Chains' and 'Falling Out' demonstrate Onan's depth and range and their typically British 'big' rock approach and feel.

With their collective wealth of experience this five piece rip through their works of soaring rock ballads and hefty romps combining huge, complex vocals riding wave after wave of impressive crescendo's through to heartfelt, soul-searching cries amidst impassioned riffs and rhythms.

Their 'big' sound is captured beautifully on this ffg recording which allows each and every component part to be heard whilst retaining an awesome unity and slick grittiness. The mainstay rhythm section of Steve Smith (bass and b.vox) and Nigel Mayall (drums) drive the machine fearlessly and tie the whole thing together superbly allowing Geoff Betty (guitars and b.vox) and Marcus Miller (keyboards) to lay down some great combined work. Wayne Morse (lead vocals) belts out his anguished vocals which should carry a health warning; don't try this at home folks - you're very likely to make a complete ass of yourselves and do some real damage to your chords!!

My first encounter with Onan was with their much looser recorded previous demo. That showed the potential - this new demo realises that potential and some!! It's really pretty damn impressive.

Like it or not, listen to Onan and you'll find their captivating works etched almost indelibly in your memory. A good piece of work from a great bunch of likeable, 'older' (sorry guys) musical rogues.
