Play 90 second soundbite of 'Mississippi Hoo Doo Man' @ 'CD quality'
Recorded live and kickin' at the Musa in Germany 'Bamboozled' captures the head-on approach of this rancid sounding outfit. Apart from the occasional solid slow grinder the foot-stompin' vibe of boogie blues runs rampant track after track. Although just a trio the overall feel is pretty massive; Barry Bihm (bass) and Jon Hahn (drums) lay down a solid and infectious foundation for Omar's stinkin' guitar and gritty howlin'. Yep, infectious, contagious, ass-kickin' and often crudely sensual Omar & The Howlers drag you headlong through the depths of the bayou then raise you back up to catch a breath ready for another earthy plunge. The swampy, gutbucket voice of Omar is sensitively punctuated by fluid instrumental work that supports rather than smothers and the whole damn thing just rocks in true blues stylee.
Fifteen parasitic tracks make up the amazingly moreish piece of work; like it or not Omar & The Howlers grab you by the balls and drag you gagging into their grubby musical morass alive and kickin'. They come up smellin' of roses while you battle to shake off the side-effects.
These guys play with a well practiced and hard gigged fluidity that carries each song effortlessly along. Tight and slick the three 'howlers' make it all sound so easy and if swampy boogie blues is your bag then 'Bamboozled' is gonna be right up your bayou.
