Play 90 second soundbite of 'Up The Hillside' @ 'CD quality'
Sounding unique and distinctive, Nordgarden's vocal approach is pretty full-on and impressive as he chooses to go for a bold and challenging mix such that instruments and voice appear share 'front-of-stage'.
Nordgarden's slight linguistic 'brogue' means he's got an instantly recognisable sound and that sound is empathetically echoed in the excellent mix by some equally bold instrumental sounds. Nordgarden's multi-instrumental talents are given full airing here; in the main, the mix is such that the 'lead' instrument is often given equal dynamic strength to Nordgarden's vocals and that makes for an interesting and compelling outing. Nordgarden gives a wonderfully open and varied account of himself here; deeply touching songs that tug at the heart strings sit comfortably next to more obviously commercial offerings that display a good understanding of how compositional maturity can go hand-in-hand with pop sensibility. He mixes and matches emotions and sings with great conviction and sensitivity whilst his hugely all-encompassing instrumental skills and dexterity are demonstrated by his amazing subtlety and choice of accompanying 'sound'. Nordgarden's overall feel is as different as it is obvious; his bold approach to mixing and layering gives Nordgarden his signature sound but somehow maintains a 'boy next door' feel.
'The Path Of Love' by the amazingly gifted Nordgarden is a vibrant and very likeable take on 'acoustic' nu-folk. However, just occasionally, I feel that he's just not using enough range vocally; the voice can tend to become a little samey and I'd like to hear what happens if Nordgarden really pushes his voice to the extremes - but that's just my opinion! 'The Path Of Love' by Nordgarden is beautifully crafted, stunningly executed and sensitively produced. The songs tend to be short but sweet, concise, succinct; there's no big instrumental ramblings, no showboating, just straight down to business and no messin'!
I can see why Nordgarden has made such a name for himself over the years; Nordgarden is a gifted wordsmith, he composers beautifully, plays with well honed conviction and sings from the heart. 'The Path Of Love' by Nordgarden is an excellent ten track album that clearly showcases Nordgarden's all round musical abilities - given good promo in the UK, Nordgarden could and should get good radio play but quite whether he's what the British public are looking for at the moment, I'm not too sure. Nordgarden is clearly an extremely accomplished and totally committed 'one man band' of an act and he's got talent oozing out from every bloody pore. I can see 'The Path Of Love' by Nordgarden getting some good sales figures but not life-changing returns. 'The Path Of Love' by Nordgarden is all there, it's polished, it's professional, it's extremely likeable but perhaps not quite yet on the money.
