What a really lovely album!! I just didn't know, had no idea, what to expect here; Noblesse Oblige's album, 'In Exile' was one of the biggest surprises I've had for a long time - this is really cool, really enjoyable, no-nonsense electro-pop!!

Completely genre blurring, Noblesse Oblige wave heavily in the direction of classy pop but are actually like nothing that's currently caught up in the pop 'charts'. Noblesse Oblige comprise German songwriter/producer Sebastian Lee Philipp and French actress cum chanteuse/songwriter Valerie Renay and their trans-Euro origins do flavour the music somewhat and add a smidgen of sultry, sexy appeal; there's always an underlying, warm, French essence to the songs, nothing overly-used but there just the same. I actually quite like the French-ness in the mix it's warm, friendly and just a bit sassy and sexy!!

Noblesse Oblige have many sides to them - they aint simply popsters, it's much, much more than that. The songs are maturely composed and beautifully performed. There's always an electro undercurrent that vies with the nicely percussive rhythmic foundations and cocks a looksee towards several dance oriented genre. But, Noblesse Oblige don't allow themselves to stay overly-long in any individual musical camp preferring instead to flit in and out and appeal to a wider catchment.

Now I don't know why exactly but, Noblesse Oblige make me smile, make me feel happy - without knowing what the songs are actually about, the music and its delivery from these two gifted musical all-rounders is just a happy sort of vibe and it's hard to ignore. Noblesse Oblige offer the listener a piece of electro-pop escapism here; it doesn't matter how 'deep' the songs are or are not, what matters here is the feel, the vibe, the groove - it's fun, it's warm and it's bloody infectious. From the instantly likeable opener, '4 A.M.' to the slightly zany and quirky 'Partners In Crime' to the punchy 'Das Soldatenglück' and the synth-laden, sexy sounding 'Jalouse', this is a cool trip!

'In Exile' by Noblesse Oblige, I suppose, borders on art-pop; certainly Noblesse Oblige sound like an outfit that truly 'perform' their music. And, their music is somehow naive yet intelligent, youthful yet mature , oh, and still quite sexy!! 'In Exile' by Noblesse Oblige is everything I thought it wouldn't be, all I'd expected it not to be - bright, vibrant, crisp, entertaining and just bloody good fun! 'In Exile' by Noblesse Oblige needs some good promotion but given a chance it could well start to make an impact and create quite a buzz about Noblesse Oblige. Great work - it's pop, it's honest and it doesn't pretend to be something it's not but, what it is though is a thoroughly enjoyable interlude of no-fuss, no-pressure intelli-pop!!
