All the indications were that Swedish five piece Nifters were gonna be a real heard edged metal outfit. Wrong, Nifters, once a punk band, are going down the hardrock/pop road and they're defo doing a good job with their genre of choice.

This single is a pacey rocker with a real big feel, if just a tad retro in its origins. Quite what the title suggests I'm not too sure; 'If This One Becomes A Hit, I Swear I Am Going To Kill Myself' does seem to be a bit negative if you take it at its word. But, Nifters get down and gritty to pull off a pretty impressive piece of work that shouldn't let them down. Whether it's actually good enough to become a 'hit' I'm not sure, but it does say an awful lot about this melodic rock outfit.

'If This One Becomes A Hit, I Swear I Am Going To Kill Myself' will appeal to a wide range of rock musos but I'm afraid just as many will find it just a bit ordinary. At the end of the day, there's nothing actually new going down here. Although Nifters are solidly tight and pretty adrenalin fuelled, the overall sound is one that we've all heard time and again - but it'll still have its takers I'm sure.

'If This One Becomes A Hit, I Swear I Am Going To Kill Myself' from Nifters is delivered with energy and proficiency but just lacks real originality. It's good but not outstanding!
