Play 90 second soundbite of 'I Will Wait' @ 'CD quality'
Three punchy and powerful sounding songs delivered with controlled ferocity and well balanced attitude.
N.E.T. challenge the senses somewhat with their rather angular but not totally obtuse style. In essence N.E.T.'s music is blessedly uncomplicated but tantalisingly jagged, sharp edged and vital. Preferring the mildly staccato route rather than the more obviously slick and smooth approach, N.E.T. deliver a surprisingly beefy but not over-fiery take on the genre.
'I Will Wait' combined with 'Shadow' and 'I'm With You' make up this nicely proportioned single; something just a little bit different, something that's not exactly instant but something that's workmanlike, catchy and pretty damn compelling. I'm not actually sure how N.E.T. manage it but their music seems to kinda stick in yer head and begs to be re-played. N.E.T. don't do obvious, N.E.T. don't do every-day, listening to N.E.T. is like taking a rollercoaster ride through a darkened tunnel where all is not what it initially seemed to be. As the undulating, rolling ride into the unknown unfolds N.E.T. start to become the force they really are. If N.E.T.'s music could be described in terms of a shot played in tennis it would be a two-handed, spinning slice that's unreadable until it gets too close for comfort and you have to let reactions take control to meet it head-on.
'I Will Wait' is a pretty commercial piece of work but it may just possibly be too 'left of centre' to be a total money-winner. N.E.T.'s somewhat quirky take on the form is certainly interesting and very enjoyable but their slightly deviant edge might just hold them back a little. There's certainly inherent power and attitude in the mix and that alone should see N.E.T. receiving plaudits aplenty - an interesting and slightly testing work on the whole but one that I'll be giving more time to over the coming days and weeks - 'I Will Wait' by N.E.T. is a grinding worker, a slow grower rather than an instantaneous smash - but, at least it's not just same old, same old!!
