Play 30 second soundbite of 'No Not Ever' @ 'CD quality'
Just barely tripping over the sixty-second mark, 'No Not Ever' is certainly the most raw, brutal and aggressive songs that I've heard from Nephu Huzzband to date - as well as being by far the shortest!! But, in true Nephu Huzzband style it's got success stamped right through it (even though I don't think it's quite as good as some of their other stuff!!). Pounding bass and drums provide the awesome drive which is then further bolstered by thrashin' guitar and a vocal delivery which is not just full of angst, it's positively angry!
'No Not Ever' is more punk-edged than I remember Nephu Huzzband being; the youthfully aggressive approach and a pretty lo-fi production results in 'No Not Ever' sounding desolate and somewhat grubby - but hey, it seems to work! This aint a pretty song but it is pretty typical of this outfit insofar as it's frenetic, absolutely buzzin' and right on the money - again!! Surely yet another commercial success for this oh so solid crew.
'No Not Ever' by Nephu Huzzband may not be the best value for money in terms of pence per minute but it sure is a shit-hot piece of devilishly gritty post-punk pop-rock.
