Need2Soul - V.01

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Time After Time (Yoruba Soul Mix)'
by Soul Central feat. Abigail Bailey @ 'CD quality'

'V.01' is the first in a scheduled series of compilation releases by house music institution Need2Soul. This double album features, and I quote from the press pack, "the best in fad-free, quality deep house, rooted in the US tradition of soul, disco, boogie and beyond, married to more European electronic influences". Get yer heads 'round that then!!

Ok, so 'V.01' is diverse house then. Plenty of grooves, danceable tunes, repetitive percussive vibes, digital soul etc etc. That's about it except to add that one album here is mixed by Ron Trent, the other by Jerome Sydenham and that both are stunning examples of their kind!

'V.01' is beautifully laid back, never cheesy, never trite - just brilliant slick grooves sensitively and knowingly put together to form an album of some serious worth. There are thirty great tracks to enjoy here - plenty to get yer head 'round, loads to grow into, masses to get down with. Polished, honed and silky cool, the tracks seem to just slip from the laser with an ease that seems sensitively lubricated. Value for money stuff this - you can't knock it!!

To choose between the two discs, the two 'mixers' would be wrong and pointless, seriously futile. Suffice to say the discs are quite different but then you'd expect that from two different expert 'hands' on the controls. In my eyes, or shouldn't that be ears, perhaps one is more organic whilst the other errs slightly on the industrial - but that's just my opinion and means nowt except to me! But, whatever, you definitely won't be disappointed with anything here - this is just so cool!! So, if groove laden soft house is what turns yer head then get yourself a copy of this little stunner and prepare for hours of sensory pleasure in the style of Ron Trent and Jerome Sydenham. Very slick stuff, very cool - very very tasty!
