Play 90 second soundbite of 'Pretty Like Me' @ 'CD quality'
Don't get the wrong idea from the single title, Natalia's not self obsessed at all but 'Pretty Like Me' is a tongue-in-cheek look at society's obsession with image. It's a pretty raunchy soft-pop-rocker that almost defies the current trend of female singers being sweety-sweet and American-esque. Natalia slickly booms out this instantly impressive work and kicks ass as she does so. She has a strong and noticeable voice which she delivers with massive conviction and more than a little heart. 'Pretty Like Me' aint what I expected and perhaps that's where Natalia will really break down a few musical walls - by delivering the unexpected in an unexpected way that's fresh and rewarding - soulful Natalia rocks (at least on 'Pretty Like Me) !
But, having access to this work as part of an album sampler it gives me chance to check out Natalia on a wider scale - this girl's actually an impressive all-rounder; she does the rockin' thing but she also delivers a bit of soulful R&B and incorporates elements of dance - a real rhythmic girl for 'all-seasons' - a new talent that's gonna make a big impression and shake things up a bit!!
'Pretty Like Me' by Natalia is a great debut single; the fact that it's not following in current 'girly' convention stands it out from the hoard. Natalia demonstrates here that she's gonna be an artist that'll give the big names a run for their money - this lady's smart, full of pop sensibility and musically all-encompassing. Watch out for Natalia - I think she's gonna be big!
