Play 90 second soundbite of 'The Hero' @ 'CD quality'
Sounding familiar yet being totally original, 'The Hero' is annoyingly catchy and similarly irritatingly compelling - and I'm not at all sure why! But, I think that's a good thing and that slightly unnerving quality is what makes 'The Hero' by Myriad Creatures so refreshingly, well, fresh I suppose!
'The Hero' has a tantalisingly naive feel to it yet the little bugger just keeps on grinding its way into you. There's nothing too fussy or over-complicated about 'The Hero' and that simplicity also works in its favour. I'm not sure how commercial it is right now and I think it'll take lots of exposure for it to break but, it could just do alright for itself. It's a weird one this - it has me teetering on the brink and leaves me a little uncertain of where it sits within the general scheme of things. The more I listen, the more I like it - so it's doing its job I suppose. But also, the more I listen the more I'm confused as to what it is that's dragging me in. Sure, there's that simplistic charm and sure, there are hooks being sent out all the way through. I'm not sure why - but I do like it!
'The Hero' by Berlin based Londoners Myriad Creatures could just prove to be a surprise package - it's bloody good, not great, just bloody good and will, I'm sure, find loads of takers - quite right too!!
