Murkin

CD - Sucker Punch

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Bratt' @ 'CD quality'

In their typical 'anti-pop' way Murkin thrash their way through this gritty, attitudinal album with near-tangible angst and true rockin' forcefulness; 'Sucker Punch' aint pretty - it's as grubby and commercially dishevelled as it gets but hey, this is Murkin so what else would you expect?!

'Sucker Punch' sure has some velocity and impetus behind it; it feels unstoppable as it careers through the ether with total disregard for your individual musical threshold of acceptance and/or your mental health. Murkin drive this baby hard as they give it their individual and collective all - 'Sucker Punch' is scarily real and works all the better for its neo-live feel - Murkin pull no punches as they blast out their rancid, rip-snortin' rock'n'roll with hearts of steel and souls of ice.

Murkin's musical honesty is pushed to the limits here as 'Sucker Punch' demonstrates their penchant for dynamic reality; 'Sucker Punch' is distinctly raw edged and ragged as instruments vie and clash yet form a seamless barrage of energetic sound that's somehow oddly pleasing if a bit in-yer-face. With sixteen tracks on board 'Sucker Punch' is a great value work; eleven gritty original studio works plus five gruesome accoustic live recordings which include two excellent and quite surprising covers from their time in Paris and Copenhagen. Murkin's brash-rock aint gonna be everyone's music of choice and that's for sure! But, if you like a bit of truth and reality in yer rock music then look no further than Murkin coz these 'dudes' have got proper balls and oceans of presence!
