Single - Seciov / Black Heart

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Seciov' @ 'CD quality'

On first hearing you could be forgiven for thinking that 'Seciov' / 'Black Heart' was a new release by Peter Gabriel; certainly there's a similarity both in style and sound. But, you'd be very wrong coz it is, in fact, pop/electronica experimentalist Mr Fogg.

Very Gabriel-esque and equally as innovative, Mr Fogg's dusky voice works wonderfully when set against the vocal samples and nicely proportioned electronics. Both songs are cleverly catchy and nicely attention grabbing and benefit from not being over-fussy. Mr Fogg balances the digital fx and the voices with well crafted precision which gives both works a light yet vibrant feel.

As a double 'A' sided single, 'Seciov' is possibly the most commercial of the two tracks but 'Black Heart' pushes it very hard for prime position. The former benefits from a tight and punchy percussive element that comes to you quite quickly going straight to the balls of yer feet - the latter is slightly more jazzy/avant-pop and possibly less immediate.
