Play 90 second soundbite of 'Diamonds' @ 'CD quality'
The Momo press pack tells of, "...a unique blend of chill-out beats, dramatic strings, compelling pop and operatic voices..", and there it is in just a few words. That quote totally sums up this exceptional piece of work and there's almost nothing I could add to it that would make any difference. But I will...
...'Unharmed' is simply breathtaking; Toni Castells does everything here except provide vocals - that's left in the brilliant hands of five singers, Gracie Patton, Beth, Amelia Whiteman, Michela Magas and Roberta Howett. And, what voices they've got - each sublime, heavenly and totally befitting the mood Momo is trying, and succeeding, to create. 'Unharmed' is a distinctly different kinda chill-out - nowadays, most would automatically associate that description with electro/trance music. This isn't that, this is so much more. Using what sounds like a massive array of instruments, samples and programming, Momo takes in numerous contemporary genre but still keeps it all totally calm and collected. There's certainly an element of trance and electro experimentation but, however it's achieved, 'Unharmed' just takes the listener off to better, warmer places - places where everythin's just so perfect and dreamlike. Wonderful pictures and landscapes are brought to mind as 'Unharmed' and Momo take you deeper in and make you feel relaxed and totally safe.
'Unharmed' is an album that needs to be experienced. You just cannot get the whole picture unless you let 'Unharmed' carry you there. I said 'breathtaking' earlier and it really is something that has a very specific effect on your mind and body. 'Unharmed' is a magnificent piece of modern, innovative music. Stunningly put together and elegantly and precisely recorded, it is awesome - just awesome!!
