Play 90 second soundbite of 'Dragonfly' @ 'CD quality'
Unusual but very appealing, 'Dragonfly' is a unique cacophony of vying sounds and beautiful voices that's bordering on avant-garde country - really unusual, really nice!! There's harmony, there's discord, there's hooks, there's singalongability, there's just about everything here, it's a really strange but wonderful sound like nothing else or no-one else. Great voices, beautiful harmonies, wonderful vibe - a real beaut, a thing of pleasure, a little stonker!!
Their Myspace page tells of Miyagi being a 'country/surf/funk' outfit and that, I have to say, kinda fits. It's so bloody catchy - with each play I'm being drawn further in to this Edinburgh band's quirky but charming world. This is happy sounding music, summer music, jiggin' music - kinda folk, kinda pop, kinda cool!! I really like Miyagi - something different, something hearty, something organic!! Great stuff!!
'Dragonfly' by Miyagi is as catchy as typhoid in India, it's a real blast, a wall of positivity, an good acid trip, a gentle smoke, a nice cool pint, sex without contact - get the picture? 'Dragonfly' is backed up here by another crazy little number in 'Amanda'; more unusual vibes, more of the same quirkiness, more of the same infectious qualities. More country than it's bigger 'brother', less acid-house than it too - but still bloody smashin'!! 'Dragonfly' by the quirky Miyagi is something to challenge pop normality - wouldn't it be cool if Miyagi could chart with this little beauty? That'd shake thing up a bit!! Bloody great!!
