CD/DVD - Big Easy Boogie

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Big Easy Boogie' @ 'CD quality'

'Big Easy Boogie' is a bumper package of twelve original works in the style of Fats Domino and an impressive DVD 'bonus' disc that features well over two hours of 'Big Easy' audio visual extra. It's a massive piece of work!!

Mitch Woods has pooled the resources of Fats Domino's original band with his own piano and voice, penned all the material and come up with a remarkable piece of musical magic. If boogie is where you're at then 'Big Boogie' won't disappoint. This is like a trip down memory lane but with the bonus of everything being 'new'. Apart from the obvious Fats stylee, there's hints of Professor Longhair and a smidge of Dr.John creeping in here and there - it's a special mix and a special sound!

'Big Easy Boogie' is what it suggests; a boogie outing that errs on the 'chilled' side. Superbly produced to get the max out of the awesome line-up, 'Big Easy Boogie' flows smoothly from the speakers and as it unfolds it draws you gently in with its catchy rhythms and slick playing. Of course, with a line-up that features such long serving and experienced players you'd expect no less - and you get all you could wish for. You only have to check out the pedigree of these guys to realise that this is gonna be pretty cool and Woods has done a stunning job here in every respect.

Ok, so that's the CD. And there's still the DVD to come!! Hey, that's pretty cool too; live footage, studio footage, interviews, a bit of history and then some!! It all works to give a little understanding of, and insight into, this project and how the guys worked it all out and had some fun along the way. The quality is sensational and the end result is rewarding to say the least. As a 'bonus' to the CD it's excellent. And, as a stand-alone DVD it works equally well. Overall, 'Big Easy Boogie' from Mitch Woods and 'old' friends is an extremely enjoyable work - a piece of history and a contemporary work at the same time.

Blues with a boogie, easy boogie, big easy boogie - a tasty outing that deserves every success. Mitch Woods and the 'guys' should be congratulated on this unique piece of work!!
