Play 90 second soundbite of 'Over The Barricade' @ 'CD quality'
The rather incongruously named Mesh-29 (I actually thought they'd be a really heavy rock/metal outfit) appear to favour strong, meaningful songs rammed full of big arrangements and finalised by a big production. And my God, do they do it well!! 'Over The Barricade' is a massive song in itself but Mesh-29 carry on to give us another powerful, balladic monster in 'Questions' and yet another biggy in 'Cigarettes'. They might only be a trio but they certainly work well together and sound much bigger - Mesh-29 are solidly unified and amazingly focussed.
Mesh-29 sound as though they not only know what they want to do and where they want to be but also they seem to have all the required tools at their disposal to achieve their lofty ambitions. Their press pack tells of the two original members, Adam Mezzatesta and Anthony Shiels enduring years (they started out together at the age of just 13!!) of musical experimentation and frustrating strife before finding their newest recruit, Lee Reynolds. It seems that the puzzle was then complete, the sound fully rounded and the direction mapped out. Together Mesh-29 have built up quite a reputation around the country and with 'Over The Barricade' they hope to move up the ladder several more rungs and achieve chart success.
Mesh-29's new single, 'Over The Barricade' is a clever and mature piece of contemporary pop/rock with passion and impressive 'balls' - the whole Mesh-29 sound belies their relatively tender years. The release as a whole is massively impressive, extremely pleasing and pretty damn memorable and surely has the potential to raise Mesh-29's profile somewhere closer to where they want to be. Watch out for Mesh-29 - with their ambition, drive and musical skills they are very likely to become a household name very shortly.
