Mellotron Overload prove that you don't need too much musical hardware to be able to make good music. They also prove that studio enhancements are not really necessary as they recorded this unique work absolutely live and without the use of samples or backing tracks. For that fact alone Mellotron Overload should be highly commended coz when you hear what they've done you'll be amazed at how good it sounds!
'Inquasionable' comes as a three track release; accompanying the title track there's also 'Public Relations' and 'Every Corner' (although my promo copy actually has a further three great tracks!) - and what a mind-blowin' work it turns out to be. Mellotron Overdrive carefully churn out a real beefy sound that you'd swear came from at least a trio, if not a four piece. Their combined attack on the senses is big and brash and it's only when you give it some thought that you might realise that there aint too many instruments making all that noise!
Judging by 'Inquasionable', Mellotron Overdrive must be a real blast in the live scenario; together, David J Copson and David Jacques defy musical normality and do something that's awesome in every sense. Genre-wise, I suppose the words indie and rock have to be in there somewhere but Mellotron Overdrive take the whole indie rock thing to another level with their seemingly insatiable appetite for big rock grooves and massively chunky, foot-tappin' rhythms. With just two guys making all that noise, Mellotron Overdrive's music will never be over-'pretty' but what Copson and Jacques do is certainly impressive; boy, can these dudes play and they defo piss on most rock duos you've ever come across.
I have to admit to being pretty much blown away by what Mellotron Overdrive are doing; their slightly retro, head-bangin', rockin' style is brash, ballsy and energetic - and it works!! 'Inquasionable' is a modern marvel of musical dexterity and innovation - damn good!!
