'UHAD2BTHERE!' offers the guitar lovin' freaks a big chance to indulge themselves with big solos, gratuitous fills and head-bangin' runs. Naturally, Roehr gets to indulge himself here but also allows his magnificent band a chance to show their individual skills and prowess too. Ok, you might say that Matt Roehr's doing nothing new or adventurous and that's true to a point but what he gives you here is wonderfully hearty and honest; 'UHAD2BTHERE!' doesn't pretend to be anything other than a blue-rock voyage across time and space - a trip into Roehr's raw and scintillating musical world. Interestingly, the 'Live Bootleg' tag on the title of this work tells you something about what to expect here; this album hasn't been over-produced; the overall sound is at times somewhat boomy and at others woody and a bit cloudy which never detracts but adds a certain reality and edge to the whole work - 'got live if you want it but take it as it comes!!'
As a live 'compilation','UHAD2BTHERE!' does everything it's supposed to; it's a work that benefits greatly from total volume max-out, not one for the sensitive ear, one for the rock extremist! 'UHAD2BTHERE!' by Matt Roehr is a superbly assembled work that allows the listener a chance to be 'involved' in Roehr's live show by simply cuttin' loose, losing inhibitions and goin' with the flow as it all unfolds from the speaker cabs and surges through the ether. 'UHAD2BTHERE!' is a splendid rock-out work, totally full-on and yet pleasantly rewarding. 'UHAD2BTHERE!' by Matt Roehr Typifies an age in rock'n'roll history and brings freeform rockin' blues back to 'now', back to the future - a brilliantly indulgent work-out to shake the walls and crack the ceilings!
