Matt Duke

Single - Rabbit

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Rabbit' @ 'CD quality'

Matt Duke's new single, 'Rabbit' is taken from his brilliant album 'Kingdom Underground'; 'Rabbit' finds Duke in wonderfully mellow acoustic mood and somewhat akin to Damien Rice in the way he manages to excite the emotions by actually doing very little but doing it oh so well!

Duke's slightly breathy vocal delivery sits beautifully snugly within the darkly timbred acoustic guitar work that's accompanied by gentle piano washing around in the background - little else is needed for Duke to work his poetic magic by drifting his song softly but assuredly through the ether and into your, hopefully welcoming, heart and soul. Duke's gentle approach is wonderfully emphasised by the relaxed fluidity of the sparse but remarkably poignant instrumentation - less is indeed more in the case of Matt Duke's 'Rabbit'!

'Rabbit', although in many ways quite typical of 'Kingdom Underground', is kinda the more sensitive side of Matt Duke; amazingly the man can still take it down further but he can also rock it up a little too. However, back to 'Rabbit' - I can see Matt Duke, with 'Rabbit', being accepted just as readily as Damien Rice was with his more commercial works - Duke has similar appeal, will go down with the Rice fans and his trans-Atlantic feel will get him noticed on both sides of the 'big pond'.

'Rabbit' is a great introduction to the extremely talented and versatile Matt Duke; I hope Duke hasn't missed the boat cuz I'm fairly sure that 'Rabbit' has the potential to raise this guy's profile and get him well and truly into the 'public eye' - if 'Rabbit' does it for you then take a looksee at the album for more of the same high quality work - 'Rabbit' by Matt Duke is absolutely superb and deserves massive success.
