Play 90 second soundbite of 'Dangerous Cat (Album Version)' @ 'CD quality'
Martin 101 makes no excuses for his musical trip through time and space; and why not! His use of spacial sound and force-field vibes are pretty cool - if at times a little predictable with the often tinny percussion sound, punchy bass lines and phasing that are all so typical of the genre. Vocally, Martin 101's style is elegantly naive and gently sympathetic to the score. Typical of the genre, 'Dangerous Cat', whether its the 'album version', the 'Victor & Rolf's Peggy Dub Remix' or the 'Schall & Rauch mix', digs up some dirt and grit on its varied journey through the clubland ether. With its hypnotically charged grooves 'Dangerous Cat' will purr its way into the souls of groovers and movers around the world.
As if to prove further that Martin 101's musical heart lies firmly in the retro movement, he also gives you his pretty strangely grungy take on 'Wild Thing', then signs off with the infectious 'The Rhythm'. In total, 'Dangerous Cat EP' is not the best thing I've ever heard within the dance genre but it definitely tries hard to be something worthy of its kind.
Although not really one for my personal 'turntable', 'Dangerous Cat EP' will surely receive massive plays where it truly deserves to be experienced - in the clubs, Martin 101's 'Dangerous Cat EP' is definitely an infectious little worker.
