Play 90 second soundbite of 'Waterproof' @ 'CD quality'
Lou Richardson's style is pretty much unpigeonholeable; her all-encompassing voice is at one with modernesque traditionally biased folk as much as it is with nu-folk/pop - think Maddy Prior meets Joni Mitchell for a very British acoustic jam and you'll start to get the Lou Richardson take on alt/folk! Let's face it, it's about time a female artist with this sort of talent had a chance at stardom and success and Lou Richardson seems to have everything nicely in place and could just be that shining light that'll brighten our lives. This is bloody good - Lou Richardson is quite something!
'Grounded' doesn't feel like a debut release; it's a mature work that takes risks as it treads some of the more familiar ground - 'Grounded' is nicely proportioned, uncluttered and superbly crafted album that effortlessly demonstrates Lou Richardson's abundant talent and potential. Richardson writes with observational clarity and sympathetic awareness; her songs are indeed 'grounded' and therefore 'real' to the point of being near-tangible. Richardson's punctuative guitar accompaniment is precise and succinct; Richardson certainly knows how to embellish instrumentally without crowding or detracting from the essence of the songs. This is a stunning introduction to the musical world of Lou Richardson - one helluva debut!!
'Grounded' by Lou Richardson is massively impressive and this Hereford lass appears to have a very bright musical future ahead of her. If 'Grounded' is typical of Richardson's 'output', I can only see things getting bigger and better for this extremely talented and vibrant sounding alternative folkster - 'Grounded' is pretty much the mutt's nuts!! Brilliant stuff from start to finish and Lou Richardson is certainly a name to watch out for - with good promotion and some of the often elusive luck that's needed to really 'break', Lou Richardson has the potential to be pretty damn big! Excellent album from an exciting 'new' talent!
