Play 90 second soundbite of 'Bag 'Em And Tag 'Em' @ 'CD quality'
For me, 'metal' doesn't really fit the bill with Live Rounds. For one, I think Live Rounds are a much broader, more melodic and certainly less brash 'n' trash than the 'metal' tag might indicate. Contemporary heavy metal would do them more justice even if it's not 'hip' music pc.
Anyway, back to the 'Bite The Bullet' EP and Live Rounds theme; there's a distinctly 'confrontational' edge to their songs as the titles suggest; 'Call To Arms', 'Bag 'Em And Tag 'Em', 'Only The Good' and 'Long One'. I think someone's been watching 'Apocalypse Now' far too much. No probs, at least Live Rounds are trying to write about real events and focussing their attention somewhere. This EP is really well put together. The band are tight, solid and work well together. There's a slight retro rock feel to their work and they often make me think of Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden with their guitar riffs. The guys play with plenty of passion and this is great when the db's are up high and rippin'.
Live Rounds do what they do very well indeed and unlike most 'metal' outfits, you can easily make out the lyrics and therefore get a sense of what they're writing about. The 'Bite The Bullet' EP will earn Live Rounds many new friends and, if used for promotional purposes, will be sure to get them loads of gigs.
At the time of writing, Live Rounds are struggling to find a new drummer - once that's sorted Live Rounds will be able to concentrate on getting the unit firing properly on all cylinders. Live Rounds show great promise.
