Play 90 second soundbite of 'Your Turn' @ 'CD quality'
Call it rock, call it power-pop, it's much of a muchness really but, what really matters is that Lauren Harris is quite obviously all tooled up, rockin' fit and definitely up for it!! 'Your Turn' will make history when it becomes the first ever digital single to be released one second into the new year across each of the different time zones as they hit 00:00:01 - clever stuff eh!
'Your Turn' is taken from Harris' debut album 'Calm Before The Storm' and looks set to see her figuratively rubbing shoulders, and vying, with the likes of Pink, Avril Lavigne and Miley Cyrus for the rock chick crown. 'Your Turn' is certainly in the more typically British style of pop-rock; Harris shows grit and a distinct mellowness as she belts out her lyrics to the pounding back-beat and accompanying guitar lashings. There's just a hint of retro Brit-rock in the mix and plenty of vocal and instrumental hooks to pull you further in and hold you down. Harris nails the vocals and shows that she's got enough 'balls' to get the job done and is able compete with her rivals.
'Your Turn' by Lauren Harris is a great introduction to this artist although I do feel that the song itself is a little one-dimensional and doesn't 'test' Harris enough - as a work of pure pop it's fine but I feel that the real rocksters out there will want a bigger, more epic sound to be convinced that Lauren Harris has earned her wings to fly the real rock flag.
