Laura Warwick

Single - No More

Play 90 second soundbite of 'No More' @ 'CD quality'

This is one big and beefy sound straight from the heart and soul of Laura Warwick; massive funky soul grooves vie with jazz undertones and pop-rock commerciality as Warwick casts her broad and sticky net over contemporary musical genre and comes up a pretty special kinda sound. Warwick is quite obviously blessed with massive talent and a very distinctive and pretty damn sexy voice - these natural 'tools' she uses extremely well to lure the listener in to her musically exotic and moody world.

'No More' skips smoothly but punchily along driven by a tremendous bass line, a solid percussive vibe and jazzy piano and brass interjections. Warwick belts out here maturely honed vocals with consummate ease and the end result is a fresh and bold sound and style unlike anything currently doing the singles rounds. Warwick certainly pushes the boat out here and takes the relatively uncharted nu-jazz backwater rather than the more obvious, over-used R&B route. For me, Warwick has chosen well; her powerful and vibrant delivery suggests that this lady is not yer everyday pop songstress, but a more adventurous experimentalist with one eye fixed firmly on originality whilst the other seeks out acceptance and success in the bigger scheme of things. One thing's for sure though, Laura Warwick seems to want success based on her massive ability rather than just through good fortune and lucky timing.

'No More' by Laura Warwick is a classy piece of work that maybe just a bit too different for the current market; Warwick clearly shows her potential but I can't help but feel that her success will come more through albums than singles. However, in just one short and very well put together song Laura Warwick has shown her hand and it looks like being a winning one. 'No More' by Laura Warwick is a beautifully conceived and superbly delivered work that says much about this talented young lady; Laura Warwick is not a conformist - Laura Warwick has a big bag full of soul, funk, jazz, rock and pop to off-load and she's gonna do it in her own way. Cool stuff this - classy and pretty unique!
