Play 90 second soundbite of 'I'll Be Fine' @ 'CD quality'
Kind of light indie/rock with mountains of feeling, all four tracks, '1961', 'I'll Be Fine', 'In The Morning' and the excellently entitled 'I Wasn't Born Just To Exist', are strong, catchy, superbly crafted and engineered. There is a definite groove running throughout the four numbers with incessant rhythms and guitar riffs that flow beautifully behind the somewhat languid voice of Gareth. The first time I listened I was immediately impressed. Now, several plays later I'm even more convinced.
On first hearing I thought that the only weak point was that all four tracks felt a bit samey. Again, multiple hearings tell me that I was wrong; they're not samey so much as complimentary (well I know what I mean!). The more you listen, the more you pick out the excellent musicianship; there's some great bass work constantly going on in tandem with the very nifty drumming. The guitars compliment each other brilliantly and the backing vocals are carefully layered behind the lead voice giving a great depth of feel. The songwriting is of a high quality with some great lyrics. The whole thing is nicely presented with a simple but impressive piece or art work. It's a very playable, very likeable, moreish work that I recommend you seek out at gigs or record outlets. Nice work Latitude Blue!!
This'll do for me you guys of Latitude Blue (Oh, I like the name too!), now let's have a ten track album and see if you're really as good as I think.
