Kovak

Single - I Love The Dance Floor

Play 90 second soundbite of 'I Love The Dance Floor' @ 'CD quality'

Brighton five piece Kovak do a 70's electro/dance rock thing with just a hint of glam. I suppose Kovak are loosely similar to Goldfrapp but perhaps just a tad more retro.

'I Love The Dance floor' is to be released as a limited edition single and includes 'Never Find Love In A Nightclub'.

Kovak can sure hold down a groove; their use of punchy and infectious rhythms combined with the electro element meld together superbly. Theirs is 'grown up' electro dance. Gritty yet sensual vocals sit comfortably atop the kick-ass grooves. And, believe me, Kovak make grooves so deep that they could be a health hazard!

For one who doesn't actually do the whole dance thing I have to admit to really liking Kovak's work. Both songs here are well crafted and do exactly what they are supposed to. Kovak are as tight as it gets and they play as if they were born to be together. Kovak hang to the rockier side of dance and don't fall into the trap of using too many electronic effects to whip up their storm. They keep it smooth but inject a fair chunk of solid sounding rocky grit - a very nice coming together!

'I Love The Dance Floor' retains a commercial quality whereas many other similarly ilked outfits often fall all to obviously into the club thing. For that reason alone I like the Kovak stance - should do well!
