Play 90 second soundbite of 'We Move In Waves' @ 'CD quality'
Slick, groove-laden and beating as regular as a heart monitor on a bionic heart, 'We Move In Waves' lays down a thumpin', wailin' backbeat that'll brighten up any club's dancefloor.
Hooky, aurally invasive synths skip along incessantly on this one - and so commercial is this that I left the room and thought I heard a psychedelic ice-cream van outside my house - it wasn't it was just Kobia's 'We Move In Waves' bleepin' and a blippin' away upstairs!!
'We Move In Waves' is blatantly commercial, no pretence, no trying to deny the fact, this is like The Archies meets Gary Numan, sugary sweet electro with rock persuasions and pop inflections. There's no getting away from Kobai though, their boppin' electro certainly gets the job done - when the music's over yer feet just keep on tappin' just as if it's on a loop.
Kobai are an energetic six piece that sound like they're on a mission. 'We Make Waves' is an up-beat and danceable work - pulsating, punchy, softly industrial, heavily fairground groovy and undeniably focused. Certainly an impressive piece within its genre - squeaky clean production, superbly mixed and just so delightfully glib!
