Play 90 second soundbite of 'In The Way' @ 'CD quality'
And, that's just about right coz Kingskin aren't simply an indie/rock outfit pouring our more 'haven't I heard this before?' 'chunes'.
'Humpin Mojo' has five great and, it must be said, varied but rocket fuelled songs; 'In The Way', 'Bottom Dollar', 'Humpin Mojo', 'Petes Porno' and 'Fat Momma Got Soul', each loaded with hooks, each riff laden and each scarily solid and infuriatingly compulsive. Stacked out with pacey, contagious songs, 'Humpin Mojo' doesn't cruise along - it flies. It gets down and dirty but never once does the funk do a bunk!
Kingskin don't follow trends, don't cop-out and don't let up - Kingskin do things just like, well Kingskin actually; their approach is refreshingly far enough removed from mainstream indie to be give them an individual identity. With their mix of streaming guitars, big gritty vocals, a majestic back-line rhythm section and harmonised choruses, Kingskin leave scorch marks on the walls as their enthusiastically driven songs tear holes in the speakers as they unfold.
'Humpin Mojo' is superbly crafted and magnificently played - a t'riffic, short and sharp introduction to a very bright and vibrant outfit for the twenty-first century.
