Katie Melua

Single - It's Only Pain

Play 90 second soundbite of 'It's Only Pain' @ 'CD quality'

Following her recent tour of North America, sweet voiced Katie Melua releases 'It's Only Pain'. Although described as having an "...up-tempo feel..." and being "...a departure from Katie's previous more ballad-orientated singles..", 'It's Only Pain' still encaptulates the fluidity and charmingly easy approach that Melua has made her own. With her soft delivery and perfect enunciation Melua manages to make even the saddest of lyrics and melodies feel bright and homely - 'It's Only Pain' is no exception to that rule!

'It's Only Pain', another Mike Batt song, has that same simplistic, relaxed feel although it's less obviously commercial than her previous singles. Whereas its predecessors employed an instantly likeable, almost tangible vibe 'It's Only Pain' may take just a little longer to find acceptance - it's whole being feels just more folk than pop, but With Katie's massive following this will once again see her riding high.

As if to punctuate her natural talent for things acoustic and folk biased Melua lays down a live acoustic version of 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds'. Boldly, she cruises her way effortlessly through a version that is so totally different to the original (and most other versions) that it sounds like a new song. Daring maybe, but Melua makes it work with her silky smooth and down-home friendly delivery.

'It's Only Pain' will get plenty of radio play and it'll sell like hot cakes - quite right too!! How can you not like Katie Melua!?
