Play 90 second soundbite of 'Engine Power' @ 'CD quality'
Wow it's brave. I can't think of anybody out there that's currently doin' this kinda hard rockin' punk - real screamin' scorchin punk - loud, boisterous, brazen punk. Imagine if you crossed The Sex Pistols with Velvet Underground and then threw in a bit if Hendrix for good measure - well, Jon Jones & The Beatniks Movement is something that approximates what you'd get. There's a massive chemistry that I feel as I listen to this ball-wrenchin' EP; this is like experiencing the whole in-yer-face punk thing all over again but it doesn't actually sound old-hat or retro - it sounds real, live, now, original!! It sounds brilliant!!
Although five tracks are listed as follows : 'Engine Power', 'Rope', 'Cheers Jimi', 'Pushin' Fuckin'' and 'Screw Loose', if you wait you'll find two more extraordinary outings - one that's some sort of free-form art-noise nightmarish trip, the other is back to Jon Jones basics. Fuckin' excellent!! So bloody exciting. So frantic, frenetic, full-on!! Raw, Rancid, raucous - just what ma and pa don't want to hear and don't want you to listen to. I bloody love it!!
'Engine Power' by Jon Jones & The Beatniks Movement is a piece of punk escapism, a nightmare on your street, a bad trip on a flight home, a psycho-babble orgy - whatever you fear most, this is it - enjoy, enjoy, enjoy - do it now!! Absolutely electrifying!! A fantastic frenzy of post-psychotic terror - fuckin' great!!
