Jimmy Nylon

@ The Pheasant, Worcester - 13/4/07

This was a very impressive night tonight; a young and exciting band, still very much in its infancy (this was just their second gig!), headlining with a set of maturely worked songs that had their audience crying out for more.

For a band so young, the wonderfully named Jimmy Nylon, pulled off a pretty energetic and well structured set. Consisting mainly of strong, original songs but with just a few decent covers thrown in, Jimmy Nylon looked like well heeled rockers. They just went out there and got on with the job in hand. That job was to entertain and show Worcester that Jimmy Nylon are a band to watch out for.

Now, I'm not saying that it was all perfect but, on the whole Jimmy Nylon got it pretty much nailed. Their set was varied, well proportioned, nicely staged and pretty stunningly performed. Inter-band banter was kept to a minimum and the guys seemed to just get on with the job. With a average age of only just eighteen I expected a much more full-on rockfest, loud, brash and a little ungainly; what I got was solid musicianship and well controlled, if at times just a tad over-enthusiastic, young guys who seem to know exactly what they're doing and where they want to be.

Jimmy Nylon showed great promise tonight. They performed well, looked very cool and set out their impressive stall to great effect. They got a great reception from the audience, came back for an encore and showed this new venue just what they can do.

I think we'll be seeing quite a bit of Jimmy Nylon around Worcester in the near future. They seem good at self-promotion and once word gets around the gigs will start to build up. Watch Jimmy Nylon grow as they continue to hone their act and start to move on to venues further afield. It'll happen!!
