Not only do this crew put a bloody big smile on yer face, they also give you some great music to listen to and admire - very clever, very entertaining but probably not the most commercial thing I've ever come across. 'Loquacious, Loquacious, Loquacious' is a superbly presented work that is British through and through. No genre restrictions, no pretensions - just all-encompassing pop-rock music to warm you up through the lean old months of the winter (anytime really!!). Actually, this is bloody well done; the more I hear, the more I realise that The Original Sinners are a fuckin' great bunch of musicians - sure it's funny but that's only a part of the story. Is the world really ready for the Jegsy Dodd experience? Unfortunately, probably not! Notoriously, this kinda music tends to miss out on the plaudits it deserves and stays outside most people's musical remit. Fickle aint we? We look for difference but when we find it we give it a wide berth, shame coz Jegsy Dodd & The Original Sinners are true stars of the genre, the mutt's nut of comic-rock!
I don't really want to highlight any individual tracks but I do feel I should mention a couple just because they're so bloody clever; 'A DJ Shaved My Wife' and 'The Elbow & The Arse' make me absolutely piss!! 'The Rough Guide To Britain' brought me back down to earth with the realisation that The Original Sinners are fantastic musicians. But that's only the 'tip of the iceberg' coz 'Loquacious, Loquacious, Loquacious' is an album of highs and even higher highs, a work of splendour and even more splendid splendour! Love it, just love it!!
I don't see 'Loquacious, Loquacious, Loquacious' by Jegsy Dodd & The Original Sinners being a massive hit. But, there's no reason why it shouldn't do extremely well for itself amongst the more cultish and/or experimentalist buyers out there. 'Loquacious, Loquacious, Loquacious' is a real pleasure palace of contemporary music; great, no, sensational musicianship and fantastically clever observational, everyday humour all rolled into one beautifully crafted package. It's a real buzz of pure aural bliss, a superbly conceived, brilliantly performed ride of modern sounds and clever poetic comic ramblings.
'Loquacious, Loquacious, Loquacious' by Jegsy Dodd & The Original Sinners is fuckin' superb entertainment - exceptionally clever songs executed with real passion and wonderful professionalism. Jegsy Dodd & The Original Sinners may not be everyone's cup-of-tea but they're definitely mine! Entertainment, entertainment, entertainment - eleven crackin' tracks offering forty-eight minutes of glorious Britishness in music - brilliant!!
