Jack Savoretti

Single - Without

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Without' @ 'CD quality'

'Without' by Jack Savoretti has all the potential to be big. This is a superbly structured piece very much in the Verve / Richard Ashcroft stylee.

Jack Savoretti shows clearly that he's got something special; mature songwriting, big, strong voice and a certain, hard to define warmth. I really don't see a problem with 'Without' - based on other success stories with similarly modern, heartfelt ballads, Jack Savoretti should get plenty of air play and impressive sales.

There will, I'm sure, be the disbelievers who will talk of Verve rip-off and the like. Of course that'll happen. But just listen to the contemporary arrangement and subtle use of 'pads' etc to add a 'now' feel. Savoretti's voice is purer than Ashcroft's - more genuinely ballad oriented and soulful, less indie. The big orchestration sits superbly behind the vocal allowing total clarity for the lyrics to be not only heard but understood. Jack's guitar is never to the fore which shows attention to detail and concern for the passion in the lyrics suggesting that he's more concerned with feel and mood than he is of his own instrumental dexterity and prowess. This really is a beautifully executed work!

It's difficult to know exactly what an artist is truly capable of just on the back of a single song but, everything sounds quite stunning - Jack Savoretti could just be the new male voice of 2006/7.

'Without' is taken from Savoretti's new album 'Between The Minds' which is due for release in January 2007 - might be one to watch out for methinks!
