Play 90 second soundbite of 'You Can't Love What You Don't Understand' @ 'CD quality'
I said before that IV Thieves sounded as though they had something quite special. Well, now I know they have! This is an excellent album from start to finish. With plenty of variation from raunchy rock to softly melodic, IV Thieves can do it all. Their song writing is superb - at times, ('The Sound And The Fury') almost Beatle-esque and then they go off to Oasis-land ('Take This Heart'). Not a bad track, not even a slightly weak one in sight here. No matter how heavy, grungy or melodic they get IV Thieves perform superbly.
Iv Thieves always have plenty going on in their songs but they never sound crowded or confused. These guys know how to write and they seem to have a good handle on how to mix and produce such that everything is perfectly proportioned and working with rather than against the flow. Really impressive stuff.
The term 'cross-over' can be over-used but in the case of IV Thieves it's totally descriptive of the album as a whole. IV Thieves can get down and dirty or they can shine out with stunning multi-part harmonies - it all works - it's all extremely impressive. And, now that I've sampled a 'full set', as it were, I'm even more convinced that Iv Thieves have got what it takes to be very big. Certainly, if 'If We Can't Escape My Pretty..' gets good promotion and some air-time, I can see this band taking off very soon. Superb, compulsive stuff from the excellent IV Thieves!
