Play 90 second soundbite of 'Take This Heart' @ 'CD quality'
With a great opening riff 'Take This Heart' doesn't waste any time in laying down it's beating heart. You instantly know it's gonna be good - there's just that immediate feel to it that makes you stop and listen! Heavily riff laden it sends out its hooks load and clear and you can't avoid being drawn in. The chorus sits beautifully into the theme and the excellent vocal work just drags you in further. Superbly put together and beautifully rounded 'Take This Heart' is an awesome song that cries longevity and success.
Then, on t'other side as it were, we have 'Won't Be Fooled' which sits almost totally juxtaposed to its predecessor. It's quite Beatle-esque in its form; slow, almost mournful, with nicely jangly guitar running through and punctuative percussion heightening the emotion. It's hard to believe this is the same band on this one, such is the move 'sideways'. But, I have to say' 'Won't Be Fooled' is another crackin' track!
'Take This Heart' and 'Won't Be Fooled' weirdly sound totally 'British' (and by jove, I believe you just might be!!) and IV Thieves should be able to break down a few trans-Atlantic barriers (from whichever side they're attacking them!) with this excellent release. Certainly, judged on just these two tracks, I'd like to hear a lot a lot more of IV Thieves. The difference between the two tracks has whet my appetite sufficiently to be not just impressed but intrigued. Nice work guys - you've got me wondering - it sounds like you've got something a little bit different to offer and I now need to find out exactly what that something is, And, I don't think I'll be on my own there!!
