Play 90 second soundbite of 'Mad Power' @ 'CD quality'
As it states in their presspack, where 'power meets progressive' - I couldn't sum this up any better than that!!
Yes, that descriptive 'caption' hits the nail right square on the head; 'Lifeline''s early influences hark back to Rainbow, Whitesnake and co. Their more modernesque side borders on metal but doesn't actually ever get to the screaming rages associated with that schizoid form. It's a great balance, it's not exactly prog rock but it's somewhere in that general direction. With six in the band you can bet yer sweet bippy this is a loud monster - the louder the better actually - turn the fucker up and brace the walls, Ivanhoe can crumble concrete and turn mortar into slurry that they drink by the gallon to bolster their bulky form and reinforce their being. Certainly, Ivanhoe could be described as a robust outfit - their penchant for keeping proper rock proper is complexly simplistic. The music is generally a twinning of staccato hard-core and flowing 'eavy rock - a great mix, a wonderful sound, a powerful but rewarding experience.
Ivanhoe are Mischa Mang (vocals), Achim Welsch (guitars), Gio Soulas (bass), Chuck Schuler (guitars), Richie Seibel (keys) and Sebastian Brauchle (drums) - two guitars and keys and I guess you can already imagine or even feel the vibe created - it's awesome, it's monstrous! 'Lifeline' is a very mature sounding work that sounds like a helluva lot of thought and planning have gone into it. Certainly the production is pretty big with nothing out of place, no clutter, no confusion, just a solid hell-hole of dynamic rocking sound to blow you away.
'Lifeline' by Ivanhoe makes rock music seem fresh and interesting again, it brings back just enough from the past and mixes it with just enough from the present and Ivanhoe look certain to take it into the future - great stuff and a real blast to lie back and enjoy - better take care of those ear drums though, there's potential for serious, irreversible damage here!! Mind-numbing rock'n'roll from Germany's Ivanhoe - 'Lifeline' gives heavy rock exactly that - a new lifeline into the future - excellent stuff!
